Trailers are normally distributed in today's society through numerous media platforms. This could be through platforms such as Youtube, Instagram, Facebook and other social media's. Also, through the normal distribution of television. Trailers can also be introduced through print broadcasters such as billboards and posters so that if audiences are intrigued, they will feel obliged to go and watch the trailer.

Ill Manors uses the film trailer conventions as it is an action packed trailer that includes the key conventions and parts of the narrative of the film. The title of the film is presented at the end of the trailer so that it is the last thing that the audience remember and is what will stick in their memory. The start of the film starts off with a short but impactful phrase that introduces the audience to what the film may be about which is then accompanied by short reviews, the film organisation and the producer's name. Thereafter, the visuals are accompanied by dialogue and a voice over that explains parts of the film and the objective of the film. Throughout the trailer there are different types of music that portrays the feel of the film and the type of genre and there is also an establishment of this through the main characters and the specific events happening in the trailer.

The trailer might attract an audience as there is use of emotive language and personal pronouns. The use of "we" in the introductory phrase invites the audience in and makes them feel like they are apart of the message being portrayed. This film mainly looks like it appeals to an audience of the working class and young adults who are 18 and over as through the actions and characters of the trailer we can see that this mirrors and targets that type of audience. However, through this film being a crime genre, this may appeal to a wider audience like those that are interested in crime films and a deeper analysis of the target audience would more likely be those of the middle class to show the life of those in the working class. The techniques used in order to reach out to the audience is the incorporation of shots as the narrative is shown initially at a slow pace using interesting scenes and dialogue but not too much is revealed. This appeals to the audience as they are hooked into what the film will be about but are evoked to watch more to get a better understanding of what type of film it would be and to get the gist of the narrative. After this the use of the voice over presents a better understanding of the film which is accompanied by scenes which are important in the film and introduce all of the characters. After this the use of the phrase "Every action has a reaction but what influences the choices you make" and the events shown in between this signifies to the audience the type of choices and weaknesses that each character is going to face which will lead their actions to a reaction and therefore appeals to them as they would be intrigued to see what is leading each of these characters to their reaction and highlights the main purpose of the film - being based around the working class that are council housed.

The genre of the film has been represented in the trailer through the characters using the clothes that they are wearing, their actions and emotions. This identifies the genre of the film as what the characters are wearing signifies that this is going to be a genre that includes people that do not have much and also symbolises that they do not care and may have to go through a rough time to get things therefore showing that this would be a crime genre or a genre around that. This is further shown through the characters's actions as they are quite violent and the use of weaponry suggests that the genre of this film would be based around crime which is further proven through the expressions of the characters as they are quite aggressive and shifty (negative characteristics). The setting highlights the type of film that this is going to be as it is set in quite a run down area and shown in an estate which could normally be associated with crimes and trouble, also, even though the lighting of this film is high-key which gives it a very realistic feel, the colour is quite cold and blue which also reflects the emotions and mood of the film and therefore mirrors the genre. In addition to this, the editing which focuses on details like injuries, the one on Chris's face, drugs and weapons to give an insensitive to the genre of the film which is also used through establishing shots of location and the fast paced editing towards the end represents drama and intensity which highlights the genre of the film.
